Our History
Established in 1937, WIB has a taken a leadership role for over 70 years in providing community banks throughout the West with an avenue to share information and to help each other succeed. Our core purpose is to offer outstanding educational and leadership development forums and to provide superior peer networking opportunities. We do this by connecting bank leadership, educating leaders and potential leaders, and informing varying levels of the bank. WIB has more independent bank members than any banking association in the West. This year we will offer more than 70 educational programs to assist community bankers and directors to maintain a competitive edge.
Our Annual Conference has been our trademark of quality for over 50 years. Being one of the first to provide financial comparisons for peer groups enhanced WIB’s reputation as a leader in community banking. A list of our Past Presidents reads like a Who’s Who Directory of Community Banking in the West.
In 1994, WIB established a for-profit subsidiary Western Independent Bankers Service Corporation as an avenue to provide WIB-endorsed services and products to our membership.
