WIB Senior Staff Biographies

Julianna Graham - President, WIB Service Corporation and Senior Vice President, Education Development

Julianna Graham has more than 25 years experience in baking with her most recent position as senior vice president and cross-sell director for the Wells Fargo International Group. She has work experience in relationship management, direct sales, sales management, training, and marketing. She is a certified Miller Heiman sales trainer, and has experience delivering sales management, leadership, and cross-sell training. Julianna earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco and an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University. She joined the faculty Pacific Coast Banking School after graduating in 1995 and teaches leadership.

Krista Gulbransen, CAE – Vice President, Marketing & Membership

Krista Gulbransen joined Western Independent Bankers as vice president, marketing & membership in 2005 and has more than 18 years experience in marketing, branding and strategic business development. Prior to joining WIB, Krista was senior director of marketing & industry relations for the Professional Risk Managers International Association where she grew the awareness and breadth of their Professional Risk Managers Certification program. Previous marketing management positions were held at Ernst & Young, Deloitte & Touche, Barra, Commerce One and eFax. Krista received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communications from Mills College in Oakland, California and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE). (krista@wib.org) 

Jaine Kim – Vice President, Member Services & Education Development

Jaine is a seasoned Marketing and Communications expert with over 8 years’ experience in corporate strategic marketing and business development, primarily within the financial services industry. She joined Western Independent Bankers in November 2011.  Prior to joining WIB, Jaine helped to establish the marketing function and strategy at successful technology and managed services organizations.  Most recently, she served as Marketing Director for HEIT (now a CSI company). Jaine earned her MBA degree in Marketing Management and E-Business from California State University, Hayward. (jaine@wib.org) 

Nancy Sheppard – President & CEO

Nancy has more than 30 years’ experience working in banking associations and the political arena. She joined Western Independent Bankers as executive director in 1988. Prior to joining WIB, she spent nine years with the California Bankers Association and held positions with responsibilities for federal government relations, PAC fund raising, public affairs, communications and educational programs & conferences. Prior to becoming a banking association professional, she spent six years at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., as a legislative assistant to three Congressmen.

She has served on the board of directors of the Western Banking School, as a delegate to the ABA Leadership Council, and as president of the Financial Institutions Marketing Association West. The San Francisco Business Times recognized her as one of the 10 top women in banking in the San Francisco Bay Area and one of The Most Influential Women in the Bay Area. (nancy@wib.org) 

Ray Smith – Vice President, Program & Events

Ray Smith joined Western Independent Bankers in 2004 and was promoted to vice president of events management in 2008. Prior to joining WIB, he spent 17 years in association management within the healthcare industry. His roles ranged from membership manager, and then education manager, with the California Pharmacists Association, as well as senior director at the American Association of Medical Transcription. Prior to moving to California in 1989, Ray worked for the Chicago-Tokyo Bank as an internal junior auditor. (ray@wib.org) 

Bill Zent – Vice President, Member Relations

Bill joined WIB in 2010 and brings over 30 years financial services experience he has been consulting with community banks nationwide for the last 15 years. Most recently his practice has focused on deposit growth solutions, lending and Non Interest income strategies with firms such as Sheshunoff and Sourcelink. Prior to starting his consulting career, he held numerous executive positions with companies such as HSBC, GreenTree Financial and Royal Mortgage Bank which included Chief Credit Officer, regional retail manager and district manager.
