Speakers

John Pender, CPA, Vice President

John has been involved in the banking and investment business since 1996.  He is vice president of sales in the Portfolio Management Group of Vining Sparks, where he serves institutional clients nationwide. The Portfolio Management Group provides proprietary services to their clients in the areas of asset liability management and investments. John previously worked in investment strategies, which provides research and technical assistance to the firm’s customers and sales representatives. John’s primary focus centered on asset liability management, portfolio analysis, policy review and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Vining Sparks IBG, L.P., John was employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years where he performed both external and internal audit procedures on financial services clients. These procedures included a review of the allowance for loan loss, financial statement preparation, investment analysis, and compliance with policies regarding loan/deposit operations

James Plunkett, SVP, Investment Strategies, Vining Sparks

James Plunkett is a senior vice president in the Investment Strategies Division. James came to Vining Sparks from Union Planters Corporation where he served as senior vice president of the Funds Management Division. His role there included the management and issuance of securities and derivative instruments, purchases and sales of loans, interest rate risk management, and chair of the Asset/Liability Management Committee. Previous to their merger with Union Planters, James managed the Funds Management Division for Sunburst Bancorp. James also worked for eight years at Merrill Lynch where he advised and assisted financial institutions, insurance companies, state and local governments, and corporations in management of fixed income portfolios and interest rate risk. James’s background includes experience managing mutual fund portfolios, hedging debt issuance and loan originations, and asset/liability modeling. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas .

Rick Redmond, SVP, Vining Sparks

Rick currently serves as head of marketing and trading for Vining Sparks Interest Rate Products, LLC. He previously served as executive managing direction of the Derivative Products Group for a regional broker dealer after serving as the head of the ALM Advisors Group. Rick has twenty-five years of experience with large regional banks, where he held senior treasury and corporate planning positions. His  responsibilities included the customer derivative business, mortgage servicing hedging, interest rate risk management, loan pricing, and risk adjusted performance management. Rick has managed derivative positions hedging over $200 billion in assets. Rick graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Accounting and Finance in 1979 and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1992. He also hold the Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designation. 

William M. J. Taylor, Director, SVP, Vining Sparks

Will has been involved in the banking and investment business sine 1986. His career began as an employee of Shelby County, TN working in the investment and distribution of public funds. Will later moved to the correspondent banking group of Union Planters Bank. Under his management, the group grew to over $3.5 billion in warehouse lending. In this capacity Will was appointed to a number of key committees and subcommittees of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America. In addition to working in the lending area, Will was active in the trading operation. During his tenure he oversaw the financing and securitization of Collateralized Mortgage Backed Obligations (CMOs), Fixed and Adjustable Mortgage Backed Securities ( with emphasis on Multifamily projects) and Small Business Administration Loan Securities. Will joined Vining Sparks as a result of a combination of Union Planters dealer operation with Vining Sparks in September 1990.

Wade Walker, SVP, Vining Sparks

Wade has over 22 years experience in fixed-income capital markets and focuses on non-agency mortgage sales and securitization. Over his career, Wade has brokered over $5 billion of loan packages and was the lead underwriter on $20 billion of CMO/ABS deal.  Wade received his MBA from the University of Utah .

Registration fees minus $75 processing fee will be refunded if cancellation is received by September 23. No refund if cancellation is received after September 23.  Substitutions welcomed.
