Additional topics include: establishing a "risk appetite", risk policy framework, board-level reporting on risk, regulatory expectations and tools for directors.

Speaker: Kenneth W. Proctor, Managing Director,
Cornerstone Advisors, Inc.
Kenneth W. Proctor is currently managing director of Cornerstone
Advisor’s Risk Management practice. During his 36-year professional banking
and consulting career, Ken has served as an internal consultant with a major
regional bank, held responsible management positions in the auditing departments
of two southeastern regional commercial banks, and worked as a public
accountant. He is a professional member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Directors & Audit: Risk Governance
Audit committee members need to be aware of the best practices, resources and tools available to them for financial oversight. This workshop will make sure today’s audit committee member is fully up-to-date and grounded in principles and tools used for successfully fulfilling this important assignment.
You will gain an enhanced knowledge of basic functions of the audit committee, an increased awareness of current risk areas and problems that are causing managements and board significant challenges such as capital concerns, emerging asset problems, compliance hot buttons and funding issues and challenges.
Attendees will have a better understanding of the current
auditing and reporting developments, including FASB, SEC and other regulatory
matters.

Speakers: Denese Cahill, CPA, Business
Assurance Services Partner; Tullus Miller, CPA, Financial Services Partner and
Kaveh Varjavand, CPA, Partner-in-Charge, Moss Adams LLP
Denese Cahill has 25 years of public accounting experience
specializing in financial institutions and SEC reporting companies. As
partner-in-charge of the Moss Adams Northern California financial institution
practice, she is an active member of both the firm’s Financial Services Group
and the SEC Practice Group. Denese has led several internal office inspections
for the firm and served on the firm’s Peer Review Team.
Tullus Miller has over 20 years of public accounting experience primarily serving financial institutions. He is the partner-in-charge of the San Francisco Bay Area Financial Institutions Practice of Moss Adams and is an active member of the firm’s Financial Services Industry Group. He has worked with commercial and saving banks, consumer lenders, independent mortgage banks and companies.
Kaveh Varjavand has more than 24 years of accounting and finance experience, primarily serving financial institutions and SEC reporting companies in California. Kaveh’s services to financial institutions include financial statement audits, SEC filings and registration statements, IPOs, internal control evaluations, initial acquisition audits, loan file reviews and mergers and acquisitions consulting.
