This
program is designed to familiarize you with funding techniques available
to community banks and thrifts. With non-core liabilities now
representing 20% of the industry’s funding, understanding what these
choices are and how they are used is an essential ingredient for better
understanding how balance sheets in our industry are changing and how
the industry is using these funding techniques to enhance earnings. This
program describes ten different techniques now being used to provide the
fuel necessary to fund your loan and investment portfolios. This
review describes each funding alternative then describes how each is
used to improve a bank’s performance. Advantages and disadvantages of
each technique are also reviewed so that participants have a basic
understanding of each funding option.

Valuation
levels are high. Competition is increasing. Bigger is better (or is
it?). In today’s environment, what is the best way to maximize
shareholder value? The simulation includes a case study of a community
bank that has come to a crossroad, facing a proposed merger either with
an in-market competitor or a larger super-regional bank. This
interactive simulation divides up the participants into boards of
directors of three separate banks. Counsel and financial advisors will
consult with each board team on issues relevant to their decision-making
process. WIB
has done this program many times and it has been well received. (Minimum of 18 registrants is needed for this simulation).
