Directors Program Highlights
A SPECIAL TRACK FOR OUTSIDE DIRECTORS
MONDAY, MARCH 17
Directors Session – 7:15-8:15 am
Changing How We Think About Boards
Philip K. Smith, Managing Director, Gerrish McCreary Smith
This session provides you with an overview of possible changes that may occur in boardrooms across the country in the coming decades. Our speaker will discuss the growing trend for board evaluation, limited terms for directors, majority voting for appointment of directors, increased use of the executive session and redefining the chairman’s role. Each of these could forever impact the dynamics of the board!
Directors Session – 10:00-10:45 am
Effective & Efficient
Strategic Planning – What’s Your Value Proposition?
Cass Bettinger, President, Cass Bettinger & Associates
Strategic planning should not be boring or mundane, nor should it be a waste of your time. Rather, it should be an engaging, action-oriented session where aggressive, value driven decisions are made. This session explores the right way to conduct action oriented strategic planning sessions and points out common pitfalls made by many boards.
Directors Session – 3:00-4:15 pm
An Interactive Mock Board Dialogue
Cass Bettinger, President, Cass Bettinger & Associates
Philip K. Smith, Managing Director, Gerrish McCreary Smith
During this interactive session, you will be assigned to a 10-member board of directors of a fictitious bank. A case study based upon real-life bank board challenges will be presented with situations requiring each board to examine the facts and determine a course of action. With the counsel of our facilitators, boards will have a chance to comment, ask questions and explain their board’s decisions.
