In
a time when employment law revisions and regulations are
aplenty, how will you know the best way to manage the job you
have to do in your community bank? We
are all challenged with knowing how to do our job while
keeping up with any new issues of concern. The learning curve
can be quick and steep! Whether it’s the design of
compensation plans or meeting the needs of the employee while
balancing the bank’s goals and objectives, WIB can assist
and the bank’s staff. We have taken our popular HR &
Training Forum; CFO, Investments & Ops Risk Conference;
and our Technology & Security Summit and rolled them up
into one comprehensive conference this November in Las Vegas.
The Education
Summit & Expo is a
5-day Conference featuring tracks for CFOs, Investments, Risk,
Tech, Security, Operations, Compliance and HR & Training.
Tracks are 2-3 days. Attendees can register for just one or
several days. We will have a 1˝ day Track devoted to the HR and Training function
in a community bank with such sessions as “How to Step
Clearly Through the Field of New Compliance Regulations.”
Plan now to join us at what is sure to be a nonstop learning
experience!

departments work together. <read

2010 is just about over, giving us just 10 more months to
accomplish the items on the strategic training plan we wrote
last year! What? You never wrote a training plan? How is that
working for you so far? <read

Compensation
Benchmarking in a Down Economy
Gayle Appelbaum, Amalfi Consulting
The
prolonged market downturn has had a significant impact on
salary increases and especially on the size and prevalence of
performance-based payouts in the banking industry as a whole.
As a result, it can be difficult to establish baseline market
compensation levels in years when performance-based payouts
(e.g., bonus and equity awards) in the market are non-existent
or substantially lower than in more “normal” years.

Healthy
Relationships
Martie Woods, Deluxe Corporation
As the
concept of recovery seems more and more likely, banks are
responding with an eagerness to increase their market share,
sell more products and services, and reach out to new
audiences. This
eagerness is offset, however, by the reality that things have
changed. Consumers feel different about their banks than they
used to, their needs have changed, and their buying processes
modified. <read
